Asbestos products were used in Australian homes until the late 1980s and were banned nationally at the end of 2003. If your Perth home was built before 1990, check these places before any demolition or renovation work starts.
Left alone and in good condition, bonded asbestos is low risk. The risk comes from cutting, drilling, sanding or breaking it, which releases fibres.
